SmartFTP - shareware with official back door?
Not too long ago it was free with the latest updates from the FTP tool SmartFTP. Used previously only had commercial licenses must be purchased, so it had all at once. So it seems.
After trial period expired, the software can no longer be used by either obtaining a license or just a newer version of the SmartFTP - Home was downloaded. An update extended (with me several times tested successfully) the test period of 7 days.
Although it is not a permanent solution, but for casual users but SmartFTP is an alternative. But above all, should not be forgotten after a reboot the PC update, otherwise do not drag and drop works.

New connection to the Online World
Since 2030 already gnawing at my FritzBox the ravages of time and use it just for speeds above 2Mbit the little box, I've now decided to request a new box.
Fits so well that 1 & 1 just for existing customers AVMs top model, the FritzBox 7270, sent gerademal € 9.60 for shipping.
After the box (was 1 & 1 according to his own statement to the many orders of the new box delivery problems) is now almost one and a half weeks after ordering them I could finally unpack.
As a first impression only once bribed the size, because the 7270 is almost twice as large as the old 2030th
Now after about 3 days of intensive testing and various reconnection, the box is now running perfectly in the home network and I can honestly say, I was missing so far not a feature.
Whether the connected USB flash drive via FTP from the Internet or via Windows Sharing / SMB share is always accessible from the home network, or cordless phones thanks integriereter DECT Station, now the handsets of sine 2120 to ring at different numbers, The new Fritz box provides for me a completely coordinated system and fully confirms 1 & 1s Home Server + advertising.

Gold phpBB released!
It's done and goes into the full phpBB3 phpBB3 - Olympus is available on the download servers.
So about four years have passed since the appearance of the gold version of phpBB 2 (4 April 2002) and after over a year to appear the first public beta release (June 17, 2006).
But the wait has been worthwhile, as the list of features, compared to phpBB2 and other forums softwares , before the phpBB3 need not hide in any case.
In any case, I wish all webmasters a lot of fun with the new phpBB.

DivX Pro Free download!
Now back to a company already offers a pre-Christmas Special. DivX, Inc. This time, however, goes one step further than many other companies and offers DivX Pro for completely free to download.
The Pro version usually costs € 19.99 and includes a fully usable version of the DivX Converter, can be used to easily create videos as DivX and the DivX Pro Codec, the DivX Inc. are according to the Pointed to the codec.
Anyone who swears to DivX: Free , or just a serial number .
Then I'll stay in Xvid rather, the open-source alternative to DivX, but unfortunately some still swear provider of streaming video to DivX web player.

An advent calendar with a difference is now admired on the website of the publisher "Developers press".
Sun gives away the eBook publishing every day a current from the year 2007. The theme of the books range from all sectors of the publishing program rich.
